How would you organize the “refining” process of Product Backlog items?
I would structure the refinement process as below:
- What items are no longer relevant? (to avoid waste)
- What items need to be split? (to increase clarify to Developers)
- What items can be updated with new information? (based on recent feedback)
- Does this update change previous estimations?
- Has the priority of specific items changed?
- Do we have any new topics or learnings that haven’t yet been considered?
- If yes, these need to be captured as new Product Backlog items
- Provide inputs to the Developers’ clarifications and assumptions
- User interface discussion
- Acceptance criteria discussion
- Dependency identification
- Developers estimation for few of the upcoming product backlog items
